This year's edition of the African Nations Cup got off to a bad start for Team Zimbabwe, with the warriors losing 1-0 and 5-2 to defending champions Sierra Leone and Senegal, respectively. Team Zimbabwe now needs to win both of its remaining fixtures against Morocco and Ethiopia by large margins, to stand any chance of qualifying for the quarter finals.

Asked whether this was achievable, Team Zimbabwe director Marshall Gore had this to say, "We have made life difficult for ourselves by not at least drawing one game from our opening two fixtures. However, we remain optimistic and the mood in the camp is we can still do it. We are not ready to throw in the towel just yet and we will give it our best shot."

For Team Zimbabwe to qualify, they will need a huge favour from defending champions Sierra Leone. They hope that Sierra Leone will make light work of Morocco and Senegal.

Meanwhile, Team Zimbabwe's fellow southern African brothers Zambia and South Africa, were hammered 7-1 and 9-1 rrespectively in their opening group games. It has turned out to be a topsy turvy start to the tournament for the southern African nations and they will be hoping to bounce back today.
