Team Zimbabwe UK

The Zimbabwe UK Diaspora National Team has received a huge sponsorship boost from two diaspora based Zimbabwean Companies ahead of the African Nations Cup UK (2015). The tournament will take place in London this month.

According to the Project Director Marshall Gore, Team Zimbabwe UK (the organisation that runs the Diaspora National Team) has secured two sponsorship deals this week from Virtual Media Technologies and the Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan. Gore hailed the deals as a millstone for the project that is fully backed by the Zimbabwe government and the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).

Virtual Media Technologies a company that specialises in the provision of web and mobile technology pledged 10 Fifa approved match balls worth £300. The company also developed the Team Zimbabwe UK website at no cost including hosting and maintenance for 3 years. In addition to this, they have pledged to pay Team Zimbabwe UK 10% commission from profit on all business generated from Team Zimbabwe UK, through its contacts for the next 5 years. The sponsorship deal with all incentives factored in, will generate approximately £7000 in revenue for Team Zimbabwe UK over the next 5 years. A Virtual Media Technologies representative based in Scotland said they are pleased with partnering Team Zimbabwe UK, they believe in social corporate responsibility and are keen to contribute to the social development of the Zimbabwean community. The business has been running for the past 6 years drawing most of its customers from Zimbabweans at home and abroad.

Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan A FUNERAL insurance scheme targeting the Zimbabwe Diaspora has been launched to help address the many complications that families have, over the years, faced when they lose relatives in foreign countries. Backed by Zimnat Life Assurance, the Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan is available world-wide, providing much-needed relief to millions of non-resident Zimbabweans following numerous reports of families struggling to repatriate the remains of their loved ones.

The company has pledged £500 towards food allowances for players during the tournaments and a football kit worth £500 in value. They have also agreed to pay Team Zimbabwe UK an agreed percentage as commission for all business generated from their contacts over a 3 year period giving the sponsorship value an approximate value of about £5000 over 3 years. Jeff Madzingo, Director of Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan, said his company is pleased and delighted to sponsor such a valuable community initiative that is helping to promote good community cohesions amongst Zimbabweans in the Diaspora.

Team Zimbabwe UK Chairman, Liberty Masunda, was on cloud nine following these revelations. He thanked the two companies for their support at an occasion in Coventry where many Zimbabweans gathered to witness the trials and final selection for the squad to participate in the tournament. Mr Masunda was also very optimistic that given the massive support from sponsors including Greenshoot Specialist Care Services Ltd , the official kit sponsors. The team will do well this year and make the country proud. He is now calling upon the Zimbabwean community in the UK co come and support the team in large numbers. Details of the tournament are below.
